Summary:
I have worked about more than 20
years in IT Support and operations, mainly in Unix domain and I have
implemented various IT projects for the health and performance of the Servers,

of 256K among different buildings, WAN
links to Dallas-64K, Heathrow-192K,
Internet-128K. LAN is of Sun Solaris workstations, Sun Ultra-10, NT workstations, NT servers, Exchange Server
etc. The external traffic is controlled by Checkpoint Firewall Software. I have

Worked on SUN Solaris adminstration
and a Financial Instruments Application-an Oracle Product Administration since
February-99 in Credit Suisse bank in
Switzerland. Orbix, Persistence, Paradigm Plus, C++, Webservers (Apache, Jigsaw
etc), JDK 1.1 and 1.2, Servlets are the
supporting software for this product. I take care of the Backup using Solstice
admin tool and the Sparc Storage Library administration and Installation,
Configuration and Maintenance of the above supporting products, tools, applications, Transfering data from Unix box to IBM
Mainframe, Upgradation of OS , Installation of the latest patches on all the
systems etc. The Project team size is 15. This is 6 months assignment.

Description and Role: System Administration
Incharge after Nov ’96 and Unix Systems Administrator between Nov 94 and Nov 96
in HCL Technologies Ltd., India, the No.1 IT Company in India which has got its

interaction among the group companies around the globe. Maintenance, Management

Networks of 350 Nodes and 200 nodes with each network having multiple segments,
(UNIX, PC's, NT's, NetWare). WAN Admin, LAN (With DHCP, Firewalls) Admin,
Utilities Development, Automation of Sysadmin activities, (Help desk, Backup,
Restoration, Strategies for backup, Regular maintenance of Unix Systems). Setup

PROJECT - Radio Link Setup
Role: Involved in setting up of the radio link
between our office in Gurgaon and NIIT at Kalkaji in Delhi. This involved the
setting up of the radiomodems and the bay Networks routers at the both ends and
testing the connectivity from Gurgaon to Infinium, Hyannis-USA. My role was to
establish and maintain this setup.
PROJECT - The 64Kbps Link Setup to Sydney Australia
Role: Involved in the setting up of the link from
Gurgaon to Sydney, Australia to connect to the client Bankers’ Trust in Sydney.
He had associated for this with Datacraft-India and their Australian
counterparts. This was the fiber link. I was involved in giving network plan
and other interaction and day to day diagnosis and maintenance.
PROJECT - The 64Kbps Link
Setup to Tokyo
Role: Involved in setting up of the link between
Gurgaon and NEC Japan. This link is used to have the data communication as well
as the voice communication for the customer interaction. They had closely
associated with British Telecom and Crompton Creaves to achieve the above
facility. I took care of performance monitoring and maintenance of this link.

2.5.1 and SunOS 4.1.3 Tools: Solstice admin suite and NIS+
Setup the Network of 35 Sun Sparc
Stations (SS5's and IPX workstations. Setup of 6 Servers (Compute servers, File
servers, Database Servers), Setup of NIS+ server with NIS compatibility and the
Replica Servers. Setup of other TCPIP, Send-mail on one of the compute servers.
Installed RAID Boxes on the file server. Setup of the 8mm DAT drives on the
compute servers.
Role: I was
working with the team of 2 persons. Technical Lead and Sysadmin role and
offshore, ADF (Application Development Facility) Setup role.
PROJECT - Infrastructure (Dec ’96 – March ’97)
Environment: H/w: SUN SPARC5 O/s: SunOS 4.1.3
Tools: NIS, Hirl, C Shell
Sun servers and workstations are to be
staged and the applications are to be installed, tested and replicate the
lexis-nexis production environment in India for Offshore development.
Role: I was responsible for interaction with
lexis-nexis, staging the machines, Installation of applications and setting up
the environment in India, maintain the setup and resolve the issues if any
during development.

Project: Developed
Navigational Instrument Simulator (April ’91 – Aug ’91) for airforce.
Environment: H/w: 8085 Kit S/w: Assembly O/s: Assembly
The Navigational instruments showing various
navigational parameters like altitude, speed, temperature, distance, height etc
are driven by the stepper motors and the stepper motors are controlled by 8085
micro processor system which is driven by the simulator. The simulator takes
the input of the instrument readings at the specified time intervals. Half step
technique is used to drive the instruments to get the smooth movement of the
indicators in the instruments. This project is appreciated by airforce,
Hyderabad and for this project Government has awarded Visisht Seva Medal to the
associate who works in Airforce, It is learnt that client is able to save a few
crores of rupees annually on account of this successful work.
